Nikon News: 400mm f/2.8E FL ED VR and TC-14E III Teleconverter annonuced

Nikon have recently announced a new fast telephoto lens, alongside an upgraded teleconverter.

 Key Features:
  • A super-telephoto fixed focal length (prime) lens with a focal length of 400mm*1 and a maximum aperture of f/2.8 compatible with Nikon FX-format digital SLR cameras
  • Superior optical performance from a new optical design with which fluorite lens elements (2), ED lens elements (2), and Nano Crystal Coat have been adopted
  • A lighter weight from the adoption of fluorite lens elements and components made of a magnesium alloy
  • Adoption of a tripod collar ring utilizing bearings
  • Equipped with an electro-magnetic aperture mechanism for more stable auto-exposure with high-speed continuous shooting

Nikon have announced a new 70-200mm lens, the  AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/4G ED VR.


  • FX-format telephoto zoom lens with 70–200mm focal range (105–300mm when used with a Nikon DX-format SLR).
  • Constant f/4 aperture throughout the zoom range.
  • Vibration Reduction (VR) system: minimizes camera shake and lets you shoot at shutter speeds up to five stops slower.
  • Nano Crystal Coat greatly reduces ghosting and flare.
  • SWM (Silent Wave Motor) enables quiet and accurate autofocus.

Nikon News: New Nikkor lenses released

Nikon have launched a couple of new zoom lenses.

AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR


DX format 16.7x zoom lens with versatile 18-300mm focal length (FX/35mm equivalent: 27 to 450mm)
Vibration Reduction II (VR II) stabilization system enables more flexible hand-held shooting and lets you use shutter speeds that are up to 4 stops slower.
Maximum aperture of f/5.6 at the telephoto end of the range.
Zoom-lock switch keeps the lens secure when not in use.
9-blade rounded diaphragm opening makes out-of-focus elements blend together smoothly.

Nikon News: New AF-S DX Micro NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8G LENS

Nikon have launched a new addition to their Nikkor lenses, with a 40mm f/2.8 'micro' lens.  It promises to be great for macro work, with a 1:1 reproduction ratio, light weight and near-silent auto-focus.

  • 40 mm DX-format macro lens (FX-format/35mm equivalent:60mm).
  • Large maximum aperture of f/2.8.
  • 1:1 reproduction ratio offers life-like close-ups.

    Nikon News: New lens and teleconverter

    Nikon have updated their 300mm f/2.8 lens, known as AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/2.8G ED VR II. Details are:

    • Vibration Reduction (VR II) enables sharper pictures while shooting at shutter speeds up to four stops slower than would otherwise be possible
    • Three focus modes are available — A/M mode is added to conventional M/A and M modes
    • Nano Crystal Coat effectively suppresses ghosting and flare for clear images
    • Silent Wave Motor (SWM) ensures smooth and quiet AF operation
    Nikon have also introduced a new verion of their 2x teleconverter, the AF-S Teleconverter TC-20E III, with an aspherical element. It will double the focal length of a compatible lens, but two stops of light will be lost.
