Canon News: Firmware v1.1.0 released for 1D Mark IV

Canon have released new firmware for their 1D Mark IV, now at version 1.1.0.  Updates are:

  1. Improves the writing/reading speeds when using UDMA 7-compatible CF cards.
  2. Fixes a phenomenon that occurs when using high-capacity (32 GB or greater) CF cards: If either a CF card with only a little available space remaining or the battery is removed and then reinserted into the camera, and then the user attempts to start shooting movies immediately, shooting may stop.
  3. Corrects some mistakes in the menu screens displayed in Arabic and Portuguese.
Updates are available for Windows and Mac respectively.

Canon News: Revised firmware for Rebel T2i / 550D and ID Mk IV

Canon have released firmware version 1.08 for the Rebel T2i / 550D and 1D Mark IV.  It fixes a bug in movie mode, where the set aperture moves unexpectedly when shooting movies in manual exposure mode using some Canon lenses (such as macro lenses).  Some Spanish and French typos are also fixed in the 1D Mk4 update.

Canon News: Updated EOS 1D Mark IV firmware

Canon have updated the firmware for the Canon EOS 1D Mark IV - to version 1.06. It improves AF performance for approaching and receding subjects.

Canon News - Canon EOS 1D Mark IV Announced

After much anticipation, today Canon announced their successor to the EOS 1D Mark III, with the predictably named Mark IV:


Although almost identical externally, there are some key new features to convince you to buy/upgrade:

  • Completely Redesigned 45-Point Autofocus System, with 39 high-precision cross-type focusing points
  • Fast 10 fps Continuous Shooting
  • 16-Megapixel Resolution
  • Outstanding ISO Sensitivity (up to 102,400)
  • Full HD Video Recording at Selectable Frame Rates

To accompany the new EOS-1D Mark IV Digital SLR camera, Canon is also announcing a new accessory, the WFT-E2 II A wireless file transmitter providing photographers with a wide range of professional digital connectivity options, details here.
